Open Publishing Program under the OUP Consortium License (Oxford University Press)
Update October 1, 2024: the program was launched under a new contract signed in September 2024 with an unlimited pool of articles. The conversion of articles published before September 30 in the subscription model to the open access (OA) model, known as retroactivation, is to be handled by OUP publishing coordinators, who will contact authors eligible to take advantage of the program.
In 2024, the program included 357 OUP hybrid journals, see list:
https://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/academic/xls/openaccess/eligibility.xlsx
Note: the list also contains journals that are not included in the program, see description in column 4 (add “no” in column D in the list). The publisher reserves the right to change the list of titles covered by the program. The current list can be found on the publisher’s website.
The program allows publication without charge for authors of OA articles accepted for publication in the current year. The OUP program does not cover fully open access journals, but correspondence authors from covered institutions can enjoy a 10% discount to the APC fee of these journals.
In 2020, the pool of articles was 204, of which 30 were used; in 2021, the pool was 100 articles, of which 62 were used; in 2022, the program included a pool of 70 articles, which was fully used. As of 2023, the program pool is unlimited.
Information about the consortium is also available on the publisher’s website:
Rules of the program operation are available on the website of the Virtual Science Library:
Article submission for the program
Once the article is accepted for publication, the correspondent author completes the online form according to the instructions on the publisher’s website, see also the guide for authors:
http://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/academic/pdf/online/ICM_step-by-step_R&P_guide.pdf
The corresponding author should use an email address from the domain of the institution participating in the program, which guarantees that the system will automatically send a request for verification of the article to the consortium administrator. An author who uses an email from outside the institution’s domain, after receiving the article’s approval from the editorial office, should additionally contact the coordinator – AAbramowska@ebsco.com.
