Collection of donations for Ukrainian refugees
We would like to thank from the heart all the Volunteers for their help.
We all acted together for one purpose: to help those in need in Ukraine.
We would like to thank the SGGW academic community, employees of the SGGW Main Library, as well as people not related to SGGW who responded to our appeal and joined the humanitarian action for the last three days!
The joint action of exceptional people has brought great results and shows how we can help together – coming from different places and even countries – I mean volunteers from Ukraine and Belarus!
How it all started:
On Friday, February 25, only 6 small boxes were waiting to be sent for those in need in Ukraine. Together with the SGGW Main Library, we decided to inform about the fundraising event via social media. We began to collect goods as one of the collection points of the “Clothes to Donate” campaign.
On Saturday at 2 PM the Main Library was tagged on several web pages as a place where humanitarian action was carried out.
People from Warsaw and the surrounding areas started to arrive within two hours! Over 100 cars were waiting to enter the campus.
The several thousand boxes full of staff could not be transferred to the Clothes for Donation warehouse at once, due to some logistic issues, so we had to arrange transport by ourselves.
On Saturday evening, we appealed for the help of Volunteers to pack the staff to be transported on Sunday.
Within a few hours, over a dozen volunteers came, and over 30 people appeared on Sunday, to work hard for other several hours.
People of good heart responded to our appeal for help! We counted on the help of the SGGW academic community and we were not disappointed – you came in crowds! There were people from all places to help! We joined forces of the academic community and people not related to the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, all for one aim: Aid for People in Need in Ukraine.
Before 10 PM, we managed to pack the most necessary things in 5 buses that went to Chełm and Kharkiv.
On Monday, at 9 AM we continued packing goods, and again a lot of people arrived to help.
Throughout the day, there were dozens of social media messages from people eager to help and support us after they finished work!
At 5 PM, another bus started its journey. After 9 PM, we received information that the drivers returned home safe and sound.
What’s next: on Tuesday morning, we are to continue preparing packages with goods for transport. From 9 AM we will need your help again, though to a lesser extent.
Due to the dynamically changing situation and the needs of those in Ukraine, we must change the way we help. Therefore, currently, we recommend help using the official entities, such as https://pomagamukrainie.gov.pl/
You can support fundraisers organized by SGGW:
The collection to help members of the academic community from the University of Kyiv was launched by the SGGW Doctoral School: https://www.sggw.edu.pl/zbiorka-pieniedzy-na-pomoc-czlonkom-spolecznosci-akademickiej-z-ukrainy/
and

At the moment, we are identifying the needs of the Ukrainian side and, when specific arrangements are made, we will inform you about further actions!
Once again, we would like to thank all those who support our activities for Ukraine !!!
