• Clearance slips

    Student clearance slips are signed at the Student Textbook Lending Desk. Entrance C (from the side of Nowoursynowska Street).
    Employees’ and doctoral students’ clearance slips are signed in the reading room of the Main Library. Entrance A (campus side).

  • Joinng the library

    1. Using the reading room does not require joining the Library.
    2. In order to borrow books and use the databases available after logging in for authorized persons, you need to have your reader’s library account activated.
  • Rules of access to the collections

    The Main Library makes its collections available on-site and lends them outside.

    1. On-site access

    We make our collections available to all interested persons in our reading rooms.

    You should start searching for the items of your interest in the catalog.

    1. The books and journals in open stacks can be accessed independently.
    2. The collections from the warehouse are made available after an order is placed with the librarian on duty, or after you send the order online. A document of identification is required to collect the ordered materials.

    Diploma theses are made available under special conditions. The following persons are authorized to use them: 

    • SGGW students based on the written permission of their supervisor  (form);
    • students who write their theses outside of SGGW based on the written permission of their supervisor and a supervisor or head of the SGGW unit in which the work was created (form);
    • in justified cases, other persons on the basis of the written permission of the  supervisor or the head of the SGGW unit in which the work was created (form);
    • the above restrictions do not apply to the academic staff of universities and other scientific institutions, as well as persons writing doctoral and habilitation theses.
    1. Borrowing books

    People who have an active library account – having a valid ID card or a valid identifier issued by the library (for other categories of readers) – and libraries through interlibrary loans are entitled to borrow books from the library.

    The academic faculty of SGGW can borrow books in:

    1. General Reading Room – borrowing limit: 5 volumes for up to 6 months.
    2. Student Textbook Lending Room – borrowing limit: up to 5 volumes for up to 30 days.

    Exceeding the return deadline will result in an automatic charging of a special fee and blocking the account.

    SGGW employees who are not academic teachers, PhD students from SGGW, and retired employees of SGGW can borrow in:

    1. General Reading Room – borrowing limit: 5 volumes for up to 30 days.
    2. Student Textbook Lending Room – borrowing limit: up to 5 volumes for up to 30 days. in:

    Exceeding the return deadline will result in an automatic charging of a special fee and blocking the account.

    Students can borrow books in:

    1. Student Textbook Lending Room – borrowing limit: 5 volumes for up to 30 days.
    2. Didactic Reading Room – short-term rentals through a self-service panel – borrowing limit: 2 volumes for up to 24 hours.

    Exceeding the return deadline will result in an automatic charging of a special fee and blocking the account.

    Postgraduate students can borrow in:

    1. Student Textbook Lending Room – borrowing limit: 5 volumes for  up to 30 days

    Exceeding the return deadline will result in an automatic charging of a special fee and blocking the account.

    At the Student Textbook Lending Room, it is possible to extend the deadline for returning a book – before its expiry – unless it is ordered by another reader.

    In order to borrow books from the Student Textbook Lending Room, you must order them to your account in the online catalog. They can be picked up immediately after placing the order or within 3 calendar days.

    You can order a currently borrowed book, it will be available after it is returned by the previous reader. The ordering party will be informed about the collection date by e-mail.

    Please note: some categories of collections are not available for loan.

  • Additional fees

    For exceeding the 24h return of borrowed books, the Library charges a fee for each subsequent day

    1. For late returns of books, the Library charges a fee for each day and each title

  • Price list

    1. The deposit collected from the retired employees of SGGW for each title (1 volume) 25,00 zł
    2. Fee for making and sending xerographic copies by the Library (price includes 22% VAT):
    –one A-4 black and white copy  0,43 zł
    – one A-4 color photocopy  5,10 zł
    – one A-3 color photocopy  9,20 zł
    – the current postage fee
  • A book that is overdue...

    If the deadline for returning the book is exceeded, the reader’s account is blocked and the system charges a fee of PLN 0.50 for each day of delay.

  • Logging in to the library account and databases after obtaining an employee ID

    Due to the process of issuing employee ID cards, there may be difficulties in using the Library’s resources. This is due to the gradual change in the data used to log into databases and the library account. The existing login, which is the library card number, will be gradually replaced with the employee ID number.

  • Student rental - how to start using it

    Students wishing to borrow home textbooks must activate their own accounts. To do this, go to the online catalog of the library, select the “My Account [“Moje Konto”] tab and then follow the instructions included in”First login to the system” [“Pierwsze logowanie do system”].

  • What does "open stacks" mean in the Library?

    Open stacks is a part of the Library (reading room) where you can choose books from the shelves yourself. After using them, the reader is obliged to put them back on the carts.
  • Copying publications

    Copying the publication is possible in compliance with copyright law.

    You can use both a camera and a scanner shared in the reading room.

    It is not allowed to copy theses, standards and materials from before 1960.

  • the Internet

    In the library, you can use the shared terminals or use your own equipment using the library’s Wi-Fi network.

  • I am looking for literature on the topic of...

    We suggest to start by searching the catalog and databases available from the Main Library website.
    In case of further problems, please contact the Scientific Information Department (room 102, first floor).

  • Home access to electronic resources

    Students, doctoral students and employees of SGGW can use the databases available in the Main Library using computers outside the SGGW network. To gain access, enter the digital equivalent of the barcode that is the user ID in the Library as LOGIN. The PASSWORD should be the one that allows you to log into the user’s account at the Main Library of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. If you do not know your login or password, please contact the reading room PERSONALLY (personal data protection) – an employee or a student library.

  • Fiction

    The non-scientific book collection (fiction) is available at the Student Textbook Lending Department.

  • Ordering books at the Lending Room

    To borrow books from the Lending Room, you must order them through the Library’s catalog.
    An order for an available book is only valid for 3 days.
